8 min. Back stretch routine

Doing back stretching exercises has many benefits for people that exercise and for people who spend many hours sitting at work.

Some of the benefits of doing stretching exercises focused on the back are:

  • Relaxation of the muscles to avoid tension and prevent contractures.
  • Correction of posture.
  • Increased flexibility.
  • Decrease joint stiffness.

The following back stretching routine has the focus to help relax the muscles, working upper, middle, and lower back.

It is ideal to do it after your workout routine, whether you work the upper body, full-body exercises, or even running.

It also serves to help relax back pain caused by long hours of sitting or bad posture.

While stretching exercises help increase or develop flexibility, this routine is not focused on back flexibility; so if your goal is to arch or do a back bridge or something similar, this routine is not for you.

Some tips to follow while performing this routine:

  • Do the exercises as slowly as you can.
  • Don't forget to breathe.
  • Only stretch as far as you can without overexerting your body to avoid injury.
