Why Stretching Is Important?
Let's talk about stretching after exercising, stretching is one of the best ways to keep your muscles healthy and in top shape, it helps you on your range of motion for daily activities and can help you protect you from injuries.
But do you know why stretching is important? and it’s benefits?
Stretching means lengthening the muscles beyond their resting position and serving to prepare the muscles for greater effort and increase the range of motion in the joints.
It’s important that we do not confuse the stretching with the warm-up, because warm-up is done before your fitness routine or your exercise routine to prepare you for the heavy workout. Stretching is done after your workout to allow the body to cool down and helps the heartbeat to return to normal.
The releases of lactic acid during your intense workout are broken with stretching and allows the muscle to recover and repair and help you to gain flexibility.
Some of the benefits of stretching:
- Increases Flexibility
- Improves performance in the workout
- Improves posture
- Improves muscle tone
- Improves Blood circulation
- Reduces the risk of injury
- Reduces Pain
- Improves coordination and balance
- Increases your recovery capacity
- Helps relieve stress
To obtain all these benefits, you need to be consistent on doing the stretching every time you workout.
Constancy is the key to improvement, Know your limits, don't push your body to give more than it can actually do, otherwise, you can end with an injury.
I'm going to share with you a video of my stretching routine, that will help you gain leg flexibility and back flexibility. This routine is more focused on the activity that I do ( Capoeira) but it is beginner-friendly and will help anyone who needs to gain flexibility, anybody can do it!
