SKINCARE: 11 Tips to Keep Your Skin Healthy and Beautiful All Year

We all want healthy and beautiful looking skin, but are you doing the right things to help your skin stay healthy?

When it comes to the skin: less is more. What does that mean?

Well, it means the fewer products and the fewer chemicals and things you use, the better.

Here are my top 10 tips for healthy skin: This applies to the face and body.

1.-Exfoliate: One of the best ways the get rid of dead skin is exfoliation. Exfoliation should be a gentle process. Avoid using sugar or salt-based scrubs; because they will only damage the skin.

If you use a loofah to shower, you already are exfoliating your skin, do no need for more.

You can also try the dry brushing method; it will bring you more benefits than just exfoliating: increasing blood circulation, getting rid of toxins, stimulating the lymphatic system, and more. And yes! You can dry brush your face too with the proper brush.

2.- DRINK WATER: This is the most important of all. You need to drink at least 2 L. of water a day. Plain water.

Of course, the amount of water you will need depends on different factors: if you exercise, if it is hot where you live, you sweat too much, etc.

You need to understand, no matter how many products you use to hydrate your skin. If You don't drink enough water, your skin, your body won't be hydrated.

3.- Don't over-wash it: A  common mistake, especially when you have oily skin. Over-washing your face won't get rid of the oil, it will make your skin produce more.

I have oily to combination skin, which means some parts are oily, some other parts are dry; I only wash my face at night.

Of course, this is what works for me. Find out what works for your skin but don't overdo it.

4.-Moisturizers, eye creams, night creams, and more:

We see on social media that we need to use more than five different creams on our face to have beautiful skin. The truth is: WE DO NOT NEED ALL OF THEM.

If you are young, you only need to moisturize your face; Unless you have acne or some pigmentation issues.

If you need to treat wrinkles, under-eye bags, etc.

Don't go buying everything you see on social media it is better to go to a specialist first.

Use the moisturizer according to your type of skin to avoid excess oils.

5.-Don't wear makeup every day: You probably will hate me for this, but you don't need to wear makeup everyday.

I know you all have jobs, and you feel the need to wear makeup.

But you don't need to wear heavy makeup looks. Do something more natural. Stay with a bare face the days you don't work; let your skin breathe.

6.-Remove your makeup: Well probably is no longer an issue, as we don't go out at night anymore. But, still. Remove your makeup at night before going to bed.

If you wear makeup in the morning for your work. Once you're done, remove your makeup.

7.- Clean your face the right way: I talked about this in a previous post: "how to properly wash your face."

It is not only removing your makeup and, that's it.

I use a cleanser and after that a toner because of my oily skin.

Find a cleanser that works for your skin type, not just any soap. Always do circular motions and be very gentle. Remember the skin on your face is very sensitive.

8.- Avoid hot showers: Now, you probably thinking: it's winter,  won't shower in cold water. Nobody!

But, the truth is you don't need hot water, you need warm water.

Hot water can dry out and irritate your skin and also damage the keratine cells in your skin. These apply to both the face and body.

9.- Have a Healthy diet: Have you ever heard the expression: you are what you eat?

When it comes to your skin, it's exactly like that. Remember that your skin will show how your body is inside.

If you want to have healthy-looking skin, you need to be healthy, eat healthily.

If you don't know where to start,  you can check out my post on how to transition to a plant-based diet.

To help you understand how to make your meals healthier.

10.- Use SPF: Due to the circumstances, we can't go out as before.

But if we do need to go out, use SPF. SPF will help protect your skin from sun radiation ( even if it is winter time we still have sun radiation). Plus, it helps prevent skin cancer and premature aging.

You can read more about it in my post: why you need to use SPF every day.

11.- Exercising: Exercising helps increase the heart rate, increasing blood circulation, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to your skin ( and entire body).

Also promotes collagen production.

You don't need to do hours at the gym, with 20 to 30 minutes a day, at home, is good enough.

I am not an expert, these tips are things that I have done and see results myself, also recommended them to friends that have seen results.

Remember not everything works for everyone, and you need to try and do what works for you.
