Nowadays we all have very busy lives, even if we work from home. Our days usually are packed with stress and full schedules trying to be more productive. But do you do something about it?
Working out can be one of the best ways to relieve everyday stress. And no, doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym. For me, if I’m being honest the best workout I do to help me with that is flexibility training.
Flexibility isn't about touching your toes or doing the splits (though hey, those are cool too!). It's about nurturing a deeper connection between your body and mind, paving the way for a calmer, more centered mind.
There are some psychological perks of bending and stretching our bodies. Did you know that flexibility training can be a secret weapon against stress? It's true! By gently coaxing our muscles to loosen up, we're also coaxing our minds into a state of serenity.
Can help to reduce anxiety and depression: Flexibility exercises, promote relaxation and mind-body connection, that can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, providing natural and medication-free relief.
Increases sense of well-being: By releasing endorphins and other neurotransmitters associated with happiness and well-being, flexibility can elevate mood and promote overall emotional well-being.
Improves self-acceptance and self-esteem: By learning to listen to and respect our body's signals during flexibility exercises, we can cultivate greater self-acceptance and self-esteem, accepting and valuing our body as it is.
Reduces stress: Regular practice of flexibility exercises can provide effective tools for managing everyday stress, teaching us to breathe deeply, relax, and release accumulated tension in the body and mind.
Promotes mindfulness and awareness of the present moment: By focusing on physical sensations and our breath during flexibility exercises, we can train our mind to be more present in the current moment, reducing overthinking.
When we engage in mindful stretching exercises, we're not just going through the motions. We're tuning in, dialing up our mind-body connection to full blast. It's like giving ourselves a big hug from the inside out.
You see, as you flow from one stretch to the next, you're not just elongating those muscles, you're elongating your capacity for mindfulness, for presence, for that delicious feeling of being truly alive in your own skin.
I know you’re wondering, "But does it really work?" Well, it absolutely does. From personal experience, I've gotten many benefits from doing flexibility practices for many years now.
After a few minutes of mindful stretching, I'm back in the driver's seat of my life, cool, calm, and collected. That’s why I stretch every single day. But you don’t have to do it every day like me, you can start with a couple of days a week.
I invite you to join me on this journey of mindful movement. Let's stretch, bend, and breathe our way to a brighter, more balanced existence. Your body and mind will thank you.
In this blog, you can find a Stretching section with so many stretching exercises for every day, long and short! Let me know if you have tried some of those exercises and how you have been feeling after that!
