20 Healthy Habits for a Healthy Mind, Body and Soul

Having a healthy lifestyle means having the body and mind connected positively.

The only way to achieve this is by creating or changing habits that contribute to both; physical and mental well-being.

Having a healthy lifestyle includes a variety of adjustments or changes in our life which involve: better-eating habits, a better lifestyle, exercising, changing our mentality or way of thinking, etc.

I already have several posts on this blog talking about; how to have a positive life, why it is important, and even how to start new habits.

But this time, I decided to create a list of 20 different healthy habits.

To help you start making healthy changes in your life if you don't know where to start.

1.- Have a healthy diet:

A good diet is ideal for good physical health and the best functioning of our body.

It is not about not eating certain things. It's about finding a balance in the food we eat.

2.- Be active:

No matter what kind of exercise you like to do, the important thing is to stay active, with 1 hour of exercise a day.

3.- Meditate:

Meditation will help you improve and change your way of thinking.
To have a more positive mind, to relax from the daily stress of our day-to-day.

4.- Keep a notebook (journaling):

Keeping a notebook where you can write affirmations positive ideas such as; things that make you happy, even writing about what you are thinking at the moment, will help improve and change those negative thoughts.

5.- See the positive side of things:

Sometimes, it seems that everything is against you, and it is almost impossible to see a positive side.

Remember that not everything that happens to you is as bad as it seems; you just have to learn to see it differently.

6.- Surround yourself with positive people:

Surrounding yourself with people who are always negative, complain or talk bad about others, absorb our energy and believe it or not are the reason why you feel bad (tired, headache, etc.)

Better, surround yourself with positive people who encourage others, have goals, etc.

7.- Set limits:

Your priority should be your well-being, even if it sounds selfish. Don't feel obligated to always say yes to everything.

8.- Set short goals:

Setting goals helps you stay motivated to get up every day and perform activities.

Set short goals; they can be daily, weekly, etc. That will help you create a better version of yourself every day.

9.- Express your feelings:

Keeping in your feelings; is bad for your emotional health.

Always express what you feel, even if it's not in person; writing it down in a notebook will help you get it off your chest.

10.- Give yourself time for yourself (self-care):

The importance of having a self-care routine, that time that you dedicate to yourself, to pamper yourself, to relax.

11.- Do something you are passionate about:

Try to dedicate some time to doing something you are passionate about, a hobby.

Maybe it is something you used to do when you were young.

12.- Drink more water:

Just as having a good diet is essential for good health and body functioning so is drinking enough water. Something that many of us tend not to do.

Remember that you should drink at least 2 liters of water a day.

13.- Be more grateful:

We spend a lot of time complaining about what we don't have and wishing for things, but are you grateful for the little you have?
Instead of feeling sad about what you don't have, look around you and be grateful for what you do have every day.

14.- Be more organized:

Planning the activities or work you are going to do in the morning, helps you have a better idea of what is a priority and what is not.

As well as helps you to better manage your time so you are not rushing around.

15.- Quality time with loved ones:

Spending quality time with the people we love helps strengthen emotional bonds.

When you spend quality time with friends or family, your brain produces dopamine, which makes you feel happy.

16.- Change the way you think about yourself:

One of the worst habits many of us have; is to be too hard on ourselves, especially when we make mistakes or fail to achieve something.

Remember: that we are all humans, and we are not perfect.

17.- Set a regular sleep schedule:

Having a regular time to go to sleep and wake up every day can help you sleep better, and it will be easier for you to wake up every morning.

18.- Establish a fixed eating schedule:

Having different meal times or even skipping meals; makes you prone to many diseases.

These go hand in hand with setting limits and seeing for yourself: does your job not allow you to have a meal schedule?

19.- Spend less time on your cell phone, computer, TV, etc.

Nowadays, the cell phone and the computer are practically our work, and we spend many hours.

However, the idea is to try to have rest periods.
Especially avoid using the cell phone before going to sleep because the constant use of the cell phone before going to bed causes insomnia.

20.- Learn new things:

It is always good to learn new things.

It is an excellent exercise for the brain, increasing synaptic connections.

Learning new things also helps to change the way you think and even how you feel.
