6 Benefits of incorporating self-care habits in your daily routine

Self-care means to take the time to do or practice things that will help you improve your physical and mental health.

No matter what you do for a living or where your work is o if you are still a student. Our daily routines can eventually make us feel stress, burnout, and with many negative thoughts.

A Self-care routine will help us overcome all the negative and stressful situations we deal with every day.

What are the benefits of a self-care routine?

Why is important?

1.- Self-care helps you reduce stress and anxiety:

We get so busy focusing on things we have to do: work, school, kids, pay bills, etc.

All these things we are constantly worrying about, eventually make us feel emotionally exhausted, drained.

Therefore we can´t handle stress.

Self-care will help us put all that aside, for a little moment so that we can feel mentally and emotionally rested.

How? by taking some time-out for yourself: could be by taking a hot relaxing bath, going for a massage, meditate, sleep with some relaxing music, exercising, etc.

2.-Improves emotional health:

Some self-care practices like; journaling or meditation can help you be more aware of what you are feeling and thinking.

Having a moment to write down your emotions and thoughts helps you be more connected to yourself and get to know yourself better.

3.-Gives you time alone:

Having time to be alone; allows you to be yourself without worrying about other people's thoughts about you or worrying about other people's needs.

It helps you for growth and personal development because you only focus on yourself.

You can do this by meditating, trying a new activity, going for a walk, anything you enjoy doing.

4.- Be more productive:

When you practice self-care you realize you do not have to do everything all the time by yourself.

You learn to say NO and it is ok!

You learn to slow down, take things one at a time and worry less about things you can not control.

You can do this by taking a break during the day, listen to some music, go for a coffee or maybe do some yoga. Anything that helps you clear your mind.

5.-Changes your mentality:

When you practice self-care you realize how many negative thoughts you have, and how this negatively affects your health: mental and physical.

With self-care, you learn to reprogram your mind to have more positive thoughts and try to look for positive things in any situation rather than just complaining.

Also, you have fewer negative thoughts towards yourself, and learn to be more self-compassion.

Journaling is a great way to start, you can write down things that make you happy, affirmations, how you felt when you woke up or how you feel before going to bed.

6.- Improves your physical health:

Once you start practicing self-care, you realize how much your physical health gets affected by your emotions and stress.

All that stress affects your immune system because you are sad or depress, under too much pressure, probably not sleeping enough, etc. your immune system gets low, you get sick.

Giving your body resting time to recover from everything we go through every day; helps it build defenses, be in a better mood that will protect your immune system.

Self-care is not rocket science: Take a hot relaxing bath, meditate, start journaling, spend some time listening to music or get yourself a coloring book.

Get active! go for a walk at the park, try a new activity you can do some yoga. Whatever makes you feel happy

Take the time to do it, don't be in a rush,  dedicate that time for yourself, you won't regret it!
