11 Fitness Tips For Beginners

Starting a fitness journey can be hard and sometimes overwhelming, especially if we don't know where or how to start. We believe we need to spend so much time every day to see results or that we need to spend a lot of money on equipment or gym memberships otherwise it won't work.

I decided to create a list of 11 tips to help you get started and if you are already on your fitness journey, to help you keep going.

1.- Set your Goals: You need to know why you want to start: maybe you want to lose weight, want to improve your health, or you want to be able to run a marathon.

Whatever your goal is, you need to identify it and stick to it, because it will be what keeps you motivated.

2.-Start small: You do not need to kill yourself 1 hour at the gym, or doing an intensive workout at home, start with 20 to 30 minutes, 2 or 3 times a week. Do it every week, remember consistency will get you results.

3.-Stay Hydrated: Drinking water is important for maintaining good performance during your workout, but also will help you recover faster. Try drinking at least 2 liters of water a day, even if you didn't work out.

4.-Nutrition is the key: If you want to see results, you need to change what you eat. Change the junk food for healthy food, incorporate more vegetables and fruits in your daily meals.

5.- Warm-up:  Doing a 10 to 15 minutes with aerobic exercises will help activate your body, avoid injuries, and increase your athletic performance.

6.- Cool Down: Cooling down will help the muscles of your body relax, will help restore normal blood circulations and breathing patterns. You can cool down by stretching; this will also increase your flexibility.

7.- Make it a lifestyle: Working out should be part of your daily life, avoid making excuses for not doing your daily workout, remember to be consistent is the key to results.

8.-Do an activity you like: Go to the gym, do yoga, go running or exercise at home; it doesn't matter as long as you feel comfortable doing it. It should make you feel motivated.

There are many youtube channels with amazing routines for beginners that you can do at home, mobile apps with different types of exercises, my favorite one is Nike training.

9.- Check your postures: Correct postures will prevent you from injuries, focus more on your posture rather than how many repetitions you can do.

10.- Don't overdo it:  Overdoing it won´t help you get your goals faster, it will eventually only hurt your body and the possibility of injuring yourself. Take it slow.

11.- HAVE FUN: if you don't enjoy it is more likely that you will quit, you should be able to enjoy exercising, don't stress out about it.
