How To Stay Motivated To Workout

One of the many reasons people stop working out is because of the lack of motivation to keep doing it or to start doing it.

I have noticed with my students that this mainly happens because they set themselves unrealistic goals or goals that don't go to according to what they really want to accomplish but they want it because someone else is doing it.

There are many different ways to find the real motivation to keep exercising, copying some else goals or methods won't work for you, everyone is different you just need to find the right one for you.

FIND YOUR MOTIVE, Why you want to do it?

Find a reason to work out, whether it is because it makes you feel good physically or emotionally because you want to lose weight, you want to be stronger, or because it's a good way to spend time with your kid's os your dogs needs to walk every single day.

Any reason or excuse that is strong enough for you to actually want to do it. You only need to find one!

INSPIRATION

We all have that one person we admire the most,  football player, basketball player, gymnast, ballerina, dancer, etc, Use his or her lifestyle as an inspiration to make your own goals and wake up every morning wanting to exercise.

GOALS

Create realistic short-term goals! and start with short steps let's say you want to run a marathon, start by setting your goal let's say you will run 5k by the end of the month, but don't focus on the time yet just start focusing on the distance, you start by running 1k, and every week you add 1k.

That's a realistic goal, be honest with yourself, and don't feel the pressure that you should accomplish something in a short period of time. Remember exercise should be fun and relaxing not stressful.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF

If you are like me and need a little push to feel more motivated, try to add something else that will give your routine a little extra that will make you try harder and extend your limits.

These challenges don't need to be out of this world they can be small like doing pushups with a resistance band or with a  pilates ball ( it is harder than it sounds) or adding weights to your squads.

LOCATION

Find a place where you will have no distractions and will make you want to be there to exercise, could be in your house, at the park. Or maybe the gym or enroll in a class; some people find that they need to pay for something in order to actually do it.

EQUIPMENT/ CLOTHS

Get yourself workout equipment like medicine balls, Pilates balls, resistance bands, weights, or maybe a nice cute workout clothes.

Something that will make you say I have to use it because I pay for it. And also keep it in a place where you can see it because if you put it in the back of your closet most likely you will forget about them.

PARTNER

Some people don't like to exercise alone, they need a partner. Find someone who has the same interest as you do anyone, your brother, mom, dad, boyfriend, girlfriend, or even your pet.

Yes! your pet, you know your dog has to go for a walk every single day so, start with that maybe you will meet some other people who like to exercise at the park.

MUSIC

I love to exercise with music, it is just so boring when there is no music, however, I like my own music I don't like to listen to the music they put at the gym.

I mainly train with Brazilian music because of what I do ( capoeira) but I do like to spice it up with other rhythms. You can find really got mixes on youtube with different types of music.

REWARDS!

This is my favorite one! reward yourself for what you have to accomplish, set a goal, and if you accomplish it by the time you planned it get you a little gift.

Get a new pair of running shoes or a new workout outfit or go eat at your favorite restaurant.

If you didn't accomplish your goal don't be so hard on yourself either, the first month is the hardest, so be proud of yourself because you made the decision and you are trying really hard

I hope these tips can help you motivate yourself to exercise, remember exercising is about having fun and relaxing, to distract yourself from work issues or home issues and it's a healthier way to live.
